Sidekick privacy policy
Last updated 30 October 2026
Sidekick is a Chrome extension that helps people learn Scratch and build projects in the Scratch and TurboWarp editors, using Claude, an AI model by Anthropic. This page says what Sidekick handles, where it goes and how to remove it.
What stays on your device
- Your settings and your Anthropic API key.
- Each project's conversation, plan and checklist, and the list of projects you worked on.
- Short notes you ask Sidekick to remember about you (for example what to call you), and in Learn mode the ideas you have already learned.
- The parent lock code, if you set one.
These are kept in Chrome's extension storage on your computer. Sidekick has no server and no account, and the developer never receives them.
What is sent, and to whom
- Anthropic (api.anthropic.com), when you ask Sidekick something: your message, the conversation so far, what Sidekick reads from the open project (scripts, sprite and variable names, and pictures of the stage when it checks its work), and any notes you asked it to remember. Requests carry your own API key. Anthropic handles this data under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Free asset sites (OpenGameArt, GitHub for game-icons and OpenMoji), only when Sidekick searches for art or sound: the search words.
- Scratch (api.scratch.mit.edu, projects.scratch.mit.edu), only when you ask Sidekick to look at a public Scratch project: the search words or project id.
Sidekick does not sell data, does not show ads, does not track your browsing and does not use analytics.
Deleting your data
- Settings has "Forget everything about me", per-project "forget" in Your projects, and "Forget key".
- Removing the extension deletes everything it stored.
- For data Anthropic received, see Anthropic's privacy policy.
Children
Scratch is used by young people. Sidekick has a parent lock and reading levels. The adult who owns the Anthropic API key is responsible for its use. Sidekick does not collect data for the developer from anyone, of any age.
